About The INSPIRE Awards MANAK Scholarship

The INSPIRE scheme is a well-known program of the Indian government that encourages students to think innovatively. The aim of this initiative is to inspire school children between the ages of 10-15 years to come up with original ideas and innovations that are rooted in science and societal applications. The program is executed by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) in collaboration with the National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF). The goal of the scheme is to encourage one million unique ideas/innovations that can benefit society. Schools can nominate 2-3 best original ideas/innovations developed by their students under this scheme. The primary objective of INSPIRE Awards is to create a culture of creativity and innovative thinking among young minds.

Eligibility criteria

  • Students aged 10-15 in Class 6th to Class 10th.
  • All schools in India, irrespective of Central/State Board affiliation.

Selection Procedure

Based on novelty, social applicability, environment friendliness, user friendliness, and comparative advantage over existing technologies.

Scholarship Amounts & benefits

  • ₹10,000 INSPIRE Award through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
  • Mentoring and funding support for prototype development.
  • Participation in the Annual National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC).
  • National Awards for top 60 Models/Projects.
  • Participation in the Festival of Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
  • Support for projects with potential for product/process development or filing patents.
  • Opportunity for selected students to participate in the Sakura Exchange Program in Japan.

  • Student Scanned Photograph.
  • Idea/Innovation Synopsis Document.
  • Brief Writeup on the Idea/Innovation.
  • Details of Aadhaar-linked Bank Account.
  • Idea/Innovation Photo (optional).
  • Idea/Innovation Video/Audio (optional).
  • Brief Description of Objective Criteria.
  • Utilisation Certificate (UC)/ Statement of Expenditure (SE).

  • Online registration on the INSPIRE-MANAK portal.
  • Approval and user credentials provided by District Authority.
  • Application submission, including student nominations and required documents.
