About The Scholarship

This program was established in 1979 by Smt. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay and Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, and is currently managed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme caters to children aged 10 to 14, aiming to provide specialized instruction in various cultural sectors. This government-run program emphasizes nurturing gifted youngsters, with a specific focus on rare art forms on the edge of extinction. Selected students receive INR 3,600 per year and a tuition cost refund of up to INR 9,000 per year.

Eligibility criteria

  • Age between 10 to 14 years.
  • Students studying in recognized schools or part of a Traditional Artist Family (TAF).
  • Essential educational qualifications.
  • Proficiency in a traditional art form with a minimum of five years of training.
  • Family income not exceeding INR 8,000 per month.

Selection Procedure

  • Interview/test evaluation on a scale of 1 to 10.
  • Central selection committee’s final decision.
