Tamilnadu Pregnancy self-registration portal(PICME)

Introduction Of PICME

A birth certificate is an important document that proves the identity of a newborn baby. It is also a legal proof of birth and citizenship. In India, the Indian government provides birth certificates to newborn babies under the Registrar of Birth and Death (RBD) scheme. However, the process of obtaining a birth certificate can be a cumbersome one, especially for pregnant women. To make the process of obtaining birth certificates easier for pregnant women, the Tamil Nadu government has introduced the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) scheme.

Objectives

The main objectives in Pregnancy and Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation Tamil Nadu are as follows:

  1. To provide easy and hassle-free registration of pregnant women for birth certificates.
  2. To ensure timely and accurate recording of birth and death events.
  3. To provide access to quality health services to pregnant women and children.
  4. To reduce maternal and child mortality rates in the state.
  5. To ensure that every child born in Tamil Nadu gets a birth certificate.
