We all know that India is a major agricultural country. but Indian farmers struggle to make a living from agriculture, especially when faced with natural disasters such as floods, droughts, or animal attacks. Many farmers even think about suicide because of this.

So The Maharashtra government has launched this project for the farmers Of Maharastra, so that they do not have to face difficulty even if their crops are ruined due to such calamities like floods, droughts, animal attacks etc . Through this project, those farmers will get financial assistance from the Maharashtra Government, whose crops are damaged due to various natural calamities like drought or any animal attack. By which the farmers of the state of Maharashtra will be able to successfully meet the general needs of their families. The Maharastra Government has proposed a budget of Rs 4500 crore for this scheme.

Objective Of the Scheme

  • To Provide grain protection for the farmers
  • To provide financial assistance to farmers in case of various natural calamities and other disasters so that they do not become helpless.
  • If the farmers are not able to meet their basic needs due to the disaster, Sometimes they mistakenly decide to end their lives due to the Pressure and responsibilities on their head, so This project will help to reduce the farmer mortality rate in the state.

Eligibilty Criteria

  • The applicant must be a resident of the state of Maharashtra.
  • The applicant must be a farmer
  • Only marginal and small farmers can apply under this scheme
  • The main source of income of the applicant should be agriculture
  • No age limit is required for the applicant
  • Farmers will get the benefit of this project only if their crops are damaged due to any natural calamity or other disasters.

Benefits

  • under this scheme, The beneficiary farmer family will be given a grant of Rs 8 lakhs in case of death of a family member in a violent animal attack and Rs 50,000/ will be given to the farmer if he is seriously injured during the animal attack and Rs 15,000/ will be given to the farmer if he is slightly injured.
  • The Maharastra government will pay 40 to 50 percent of the total value of crops damaged by animal attacks as compensation.
  • In case of loss of sugarcane crop, farmers will be compensated at the rate of Rs 800 per meter ton.
  • If a coconut tree is destroyed, farmers will be given financial assistance of Rs 4800 as compensation.
  • In case of loss of betel crop, farmers will be given financial assistance of Rs 2800 as compensation.
  • If a mango tree is destroyed, farmers will be given financial assistance of Rs 36,000 as compensation

Also through this project, farmers will be taught many new and advanced technologically methods of agriculture.
