PM-DAKSH Yojana is a government program that aims to help young people from different groups, including Scheduled Castes (SCs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Economically Backward Classes (EBCs), De-notified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNTs), and members of the Transgender (TG) community. The program provides skill training to these young people so they can get jobs. It offers free training in different areas, allowing them to develop the skills they need to find employment. The PM-DAKSH Yojana also provides benefits to people from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, backward classes, and sanitation workers. Eligible beneficiaries can receive training in: Upskilling/reskilling- Short-term training programs- Long-term training programs- Entrepreneurship development programs.

Objectives

Here are the objectives of PM Daksh Yojana:

  1. To provide short-term and long-term skills training to the target youth to increase their skill level.
  2. To assist the youth in self-employment through the scheme.
  3. To enhance the skill level of artisans through up-skilling and re-skilling programs.
  4. To increase the income of the beneficiaries by providing them with training, thus improving their standard of living.
  5. To provide training to the target group of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Safai Karamcharis according to their abilities.
  6. To provide the training free of cost to the beneficiaries, so they do not have to worry about financial expenditures.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for PM Daksha Yojana

  • The applicant must be a resident of India.
  • Age must be between 18 to 45 years.
  • Beneficiary must belong to one of the following categories: Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Other Backward Class, Economically Backward Class, Safai Karamcharis, De-Notified, Dhoomantu, Semi Dhumantu, etc.
  • For beneficiaries belonging to Other Backward Class, the annual income of the family must be less than or equal to Rs 3 lakhs.
  • For beneficiaries belonging to Economically Backward Class, the annual income of the family must be less than or equal to Rs1 lakh.

Features And Benefits

Features of PM Daksh Yojana:

  1. Launched by the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar on 5 August 2021.
  2. Provides free training to target groups of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and Safai Karamcharis.
  3. Also known as Pradhan Mantri Efficiency and Skilled Beneficiary Scheme.
  4. 50,000 youth will be benefited in the year 2021-22.
  5. Apply online through the official website.
  6. Free training will be provided at nearest training centers.
  7. Operated by the Central Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.
  8. 2.7 lakh youth will be provided benefits in the next 5 years.

Benefits of PM Daksh Yojana

  1. Increase in employment opportunities.
  2. Free training is provided to selected beneficiaries.
  3. Trainees with 80% attendance are eligible for a stipend of ₹1000 to ₹1500 per month.
  4. Wage compensation of ₹3000 per trainee for re-skilling/up-skilling with 80% attendance.
  5. Certificate awarded after successful completion of training and assessment.
  6. Placement assistance is provided after assessment and certification.

The PM-DAKSH Yojana is implemented through the State Channelizing Agencies (SCAs) nominated by the State Governments/UTs. The SCAs are responsible for the identification of beneficiaries, selection of training partners, placement of trained candidates and monitoring of the training programme.
Free Training:

  • 100% Government grants for trainees.

Stipend:

  • ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per month for trainees with 80%+ attendance.

Wage Compensation:

  • ₹3,000 per trainee for Reskilling/Up-skilling.

Certification:

  • Trained candidates receive certification upon successful completion.

Placement:

  • Job placement opportunities post-assessment and certification.

Types of Skilling Programmes

  1. Up-Skilling / Re-Skilling:
    • For rural artisans, domestic workers, and sanitation workers.
    • Duration: 32 to 80 hours over one month.
    • Focus on practices like pottery, weaving, and carpentry.
    • Financial and digital literacy included.
  2. Short Term Training (Wage/Self-Employment):
    • Job roles per NSQF/NOS.
    • Duration: 200 to 600 hours (up to 6 months).
    • Focus on wage/self-employment (e.g., tailoring, furniture making).
    • Stipend for non-residential training.
  3. Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP):
    • For SC and OBC youth with entrepreneurial interests.
    • Modeled on MoRD programs.
    • Duration: 80-90 hours.
    • Sessions on business guidance, market surveys, and business plans.
  4. Long Term Training (Job Market Demand):
    • Sectors like production technology, and healthcare.
    • Duration:5 months to 1 year.
    • Training as per NSQF, NCVT, AICTE, MSME.
    • Stipend for non-residential programs.

The PM-DAKSH Yojana has been a successful scheme in providing skill training to the target group and enabling them to earn sustainable livelihood. As on 31st December, 2023, a total of 10.25 lakh candidates have been trained under the scheme.

  • Fill in the required information in the registration form, including personal details, educational qualifications, and category.
  • Upload a recent passport-sized photograph.
  • Enter the mobile number and receive the OTP.
  • Enter the OTP in the designated box and proceed to the next step.
  • Fill in the training details in the next part of the form.
  • Enter the bank account details and submit the application.
