Eligibility critea

To avail of the benefits of the scheme, the applicant must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant must be a woman or a girl.
  • The applicant must have suffered disfigurement or disability due to an acid attack or similar corrosive substance.
  • The acid attack must have occurred on or after 2nd May 2011.
  • The applicant must be a resident of Haryana and have lived in the state for at least three years before the acid attack.
  • If the girl/woman has intentionally or unintentionally inflicted the acid injuries on herself, she will not be eligible for financial assistance under this scheme.

Benefits

The scheme provides the following benefits to the victims:

  • Financial assistance at the rate of pension under the scheme Divyang Pension.
  • Monthly financial assistance of Rs 8,000 to acid attack victims who come under the definition of disability (Not official recorded)
  • The victim of an acid attack would be given preference in allotment of fair price shops by the Food and Supply Department.
  • A sum of Rs One lakh would be paid to the acid victim within 15 days of the occurrence of such an incident.
  • Financial assistance according to the percentage of disability:
    • 40-50%: 2.5 times of Divyang Pension
    • 51-60%: 3.5 times of Divyang Pension
    • 61%: 4.5 times of Divyang Pension

Required Documents

The following documents are required to apply for financial assistance under the scheme:

  • Medical certificate issued by the Medical Board at the District level where the application is being made by or on behalf of the victim.
  • Copy of the FIR/Complaint.
  • Copy of the application made to or benefit received from Women & Child Development Department.

How To Apply

To apply for the Financial Assistance to Women and Girl Acid Attack Victims in Haryana, follow these steps:

  • The application process is offline
  • The victim or her heir claiming on her behalf can apply in cases where the victim is unable to make an application
  • The victim herself, her parents, or her legal heirs may apply to the District Social Welfare Officer for relief
  • The application form must be submitted to the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO)
  • Required documents such as a medical certificate issued by the Medical Board, copy of the FIR/complaint, and copy of application made to or benefit received from Women & Child Development Department must be attached with the application form.
