To address this issue, the Directorate of Information & Culture Affairs has launched the Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme. This scheme provides health insurance to journalists who are permanent residents of Tripura and are accredited by the state government or PIB.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Tripura.
  • The applicant must be an accredited working journalist by the state government or by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
  • The age of the applicant must be between 21 years and 65 years.
  • The applicant must not have been covered under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme or any other Health Insurance Scheme of the Central or State Government.

The Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme provides the following benefits:

  • The beneficiary will receive medical care facilities for all the diseases as listed by the state government after recommendation by the committee.
  • The maximum coverage of benefits from all sources will be ₹3,00,000.
  • The scheme covers the medical expenses of the journalist and their family members.

How To Apply

To apply for the Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme, the journalist must follow the below-mentioned steps:

  • Submit your application along with supporting documents to the Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Tripura.
  • The Director will verify your eligibility through the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and other concerned agencies.
  • The Director will then submit your application and necessary documents to the “Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme Recommendation Committee” (JHISRC).
  • If recommended by the committee and approved by the State Government, you will be enrolled as a beneficiary under the scheme.
