About Assam Fruit Preservation

The Community Canning & Training on Fruit Preservation program is an initiative by the Office of the Deputy Director of Agriculture (Fruit Preservation) Assam. It aims to train individuals, especially women, in the art of preserving seasonal fruits and vegetables such as jams, jellies, pickles, sauces, and chutneys. The program operates through 21 centres across 19 districts in Assam, providing hands-on guidance to participants, and enabling them to start small-scale cottage industries for self-employment.

Objective Of This Sche

  • to Disseminate techniques of fruit preservation to individuals, particularly women, in Assam.
  • Fostering the creation of value-added products like jams, jellies, sauces, and pickles at affordable rates.
  • to Empower participants with practical skills through training programs of varying durations (1, 3, and 6 days).
  • Promoting self-employment by training individuals to establish small-scale cottage industries in fruit and vegetable preservation.
  • Providing certification to trained participants, enabling them to initiate their enterprises.

Eligibility Criteria

The training is open to:

  • Ladies, housewives, and individuals from various organizations such as Mahila Samity, SHG, and college girls.
  • Rural areas, with a special focus on dairy processing (1-day training) and small-scale cottage industries (7 to 15 days training).

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Voter Card
  • PAN Card
  • Valid Bank Account details
  • Additional documents as specified by the district’s Community Canning and Training Center.
