Introduction Of Kerala Steering Scheme

The state of Kerala is known for its innovative schemes and programs aimed at uplifting the underprivileged sections of the society. In line with this, the Kerala Government has launched an online taxi service scheme called the Steering Scheme. The scheme is specifically aimed at providing employment opportunities to the youth from the SC/ST communities in the state. The scheme provides a grant and a loan for the purchase of taxis or cabs, enabling the beneficiaries to run their own taxi service and earn a livelihood.

Objectives Of Kerala Steering Scheme

The Steering Scheme has several objectives, including:

  1. Empowering Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes: The scheme aims to empower the youth from the SC/ST communities by providing them with the means to start their own taxi service and become self-reliant.
  2. Creating job opportunities in the state: The scheme aims to create job opportunities for the youth from the SC/ST communities, who often face discrimination and a lack of opportunities in the job market.

Eligibility Criteria Of Kerala Steering Scheme

To be eligible for the Steering Scheme, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  1. The scheme is applicable only in the state of Kerala.
  2. The applicant must be a resident of Kerala.
  3. The applicant must be from the SC/ST communities.
  4. The applicant must have a valid driving license.
  5. The applicant must be between 18 to 35 years of age.

Benefits Of Kerala Steering Scheme

The Steering Scheme provides several benefits to eligible beneficiaries, including:

  1. Financial assistance: The Kerala Government provides a financial assistance of Rs1 lakh to eligible beneficiaries for the purchase of a vehicle.
  2. Loan: The Kerala State Development Corporation for Scheduled Caste and Tribe Ltd provides a loan at a minimum interest rate to eligible beneficiaries. After the loan repayment, the beneficiary will own the car.

To apply for the Steering Scheme, an applicant must submit the following documents:

  1. Proof of residence in Kerala.
  2. Proof of belonging to the SC/ST communities.
  3. Valid driving license.
  4. Age proof.
  5. Bank account details.

To apply for the Steering Scheme, eligible beneficiaries can follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official website of the Kerala State Development Corporation for Scheduled Caste and Tribe Ltd.
  2. Download the application form for the Steering Scheme.
  3. Fill in the application form with all the necessary details and attach the required documents.
  4. Submit the application form and documents to the Kerala State Development Corporation for Scheduled Caste and Tribe Ltd.
  5. The Corporation will verify the application and documents and provide the loan to eligible beneficiaries.
