About Assam Old Age Pension Scheme

the Assam State Government started the Assam Old Age Pension Scheme” to make the elderly people of Assam self-reliant and not suffer in any way for the rest of their lives. Through this scheme, a grant of Rs 500 per month will be given to all the elderly people of Assam for making them self-reliant, through which those old people will be able to meet their common needs.

There are two primary old-age pension schemes in Assam:

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a resident of the state of Assam
  • Applicants must be 60 years of age or older
  • The applicant’s family or the applicant should not have any government job/No retired government employee will get the benefit of this scheme
  • The annual income of the applicant’s family should be Rs 48000 or less
  • If applicant does not come under BPL category but his annual family income is less than Rs 48000 then he can apply for the scheme

Benefits Of This Scheme

Under this scheme, There are two primary old age pension schemes in Assam:

Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Achoni:

  • Eligibility: Open to all residents of Assam above 60 years of age. Excludes beneficiaries of other government pension schemes, parents of government employees, and taxpayers earning over ₹2.5 lakhs annually.
  • Benefits: ₹250-₹300 monthly pension deposited directly into the beneficiary’s bank account on the first of every month.

Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS):

  • Eligibility: Restricted to residents of Assam above 60 years of age belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
  • Benefits: ₹200 monthly pension for ages 60-79 and ₹500 monthly pension for ages 80 and above.

How To Apply

All the eligible senior citizens of Assam who have not yet applied for this scheme can easily apply for the scheme by following the instructions given below.

1. Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Achoni

Application:

  • Online: You can apply online through the myScheme portal: https://www.myscheme.gov.in/schemes/skksbpa.
    • Visit the portal and create an account if you don’t have one already.
    • Select “Assam” as the state and “Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Achoni” as the scheme.
    • Fill out the application form and upload the required documents (proof of age, address, identity, and bank account details).
    • Submit the application and track its status online.
  • Offline: You can also submit your application offline at your local Panchayat office.
    • Collect the application form from the Panchayat office.
    • Fill out the form and attach the required documents (proof of age, address, identity, and bank account details).
    • Submit the form to the Panchayat office.

2. Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS):

Application:

  • Requires a valid BPL ID and can be submitted at local Panchayat offices.
    • Visit your local Panchayat office with your BPL ID and other required documents (proof of age, address, and identity).
    • Fill out the application form provided by the Panchayat office.
    • Submit the form and documents to the Panchayat office.
