Inspired by our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, the State Government of Assam has launched the Atal Amrit Abhiyan scheme to ensure health safety of the residents of Assam.

In today’s society, the cost of treatment has increased a lot. Many people die without treatment due to a lack of money. For this reason, under the initiative of the govt of Assam, the Assam Health and Welfare Committee has launched a new Scheme Called “Atal Amrit Abhiyan” to provide a medical insurance of up to Rs 2 lakh per annum to the poor and middle-class people of Assam for their treatment purposes

Objective Of This Scheme

  • To provide completely free medical treatment to all poor people in West Bengal
  • Reducing the Mortality Rate in the State
  • To address this key vulnerability faced by the BPL population and Low-Income households in the State
  • To ensure the health protection of every poor and helpless family in West Bengal
  • To keep the state Healthy

 The Health Assurance Scheme, Atal Amrit Abhiyan aims at making treatment more affordable and also to limit the disastrous financial impact that households often experience due to out-of-pocket spending.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant should be a permanent resident of Assam
  • The benefits of this scheme will be open to both APL and BPL category people
  • The Scheme will be free for BPL families and a nominal amount of Rs 100/- will be collected from each member of the APL family as enrolment fees annually.
  • If any member of the applicant’s family is in government service and receives medical allowance, then the family of that person cannot apply for this scheme.
  • If he/she is in government service but does not get medical allowance, he/she is eligible to apply for this scheme.

Each individual adult member of the eligible family will be empanelled for this purpose through isa and issued with a stratified ID card with a unique identification number to facilitate cashless treatment facilities at empanelled hospitals. Children below the age of 18 years will be enrolled with the head of the family.

Benefits of The Scheme

The Scheme will provide inpatient treatment facility at the empanelled hospitals (Private and Public) up to a maximum limit of Rs 2.00 lakh per individual member per annum within and outside the State of Assam covering 438 procedures for the following diseases:

  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Cancer
  • Renal (Kidney)diseases
  • Neonatal diseases
  • Neurological conditions
  • Burns

Required Documents

  • Attested copy of the Voter ID or Voter ID of Parent
  • Annual Income Certificate issued by Circle Officer(Attested copy of the certificate to be enclosed along with the application)
  • Photograph of the Patient (Attested by Doctor)
  • Attested copy of the Referral Certificate/ Discharge certificate & Prescription from the hospital
  • Original copy of the Bills attested by the treating hospital (Only empanelled hospital under Assam Arogya Nidhi)

How To Apply

Although the application process for enrolling in this project has been closed for a long time, you can still get information on how to apply by going to the nearest hospital or calling the toll-free number provided on the website.

Or also you can get information about the application of the project from a kiosk center near you.

  •  Take a printout of the application.
  • Fill all the details in the application form. 
  • Submit the filled application form with the required documents to the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services of the concerned district.

Enrolment under the Scheme was started in one block each of seven districts of the State namely Kamrup (R), Majuli, Dibrugarh, Baksa, Cachar, Dhubri and Karbi Anglong on pilot basis on 10th April, 2017. Subsequently Enrolment was rolled out covering all other blocks/ population in these seven districts. Enrolment has now been taken up in nine more districts namely Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, Sivsagar, Sonitpur, Udalguri, Halikandi, Karimganj and Morigaon. Enrollment will be done in the remaining districts covering the entire State in the subsequent phase.

District kiosks have been opened in these districts to facilitate modification,  correction and left-out enrollment.
